Do you like being outdoors, have a love for environmental science and natural history and enjoy teaching young people about nature? At Bluff Lake Nature Center, you can combine and utilize your talents as a Nature Guide or an Ambassador. Nature Guides are needed for for two hours per week to lead school programs. Volunteers receive training in ecology, natural history, and teaching techniques. Ambassadors oversee protection of Bluff Lake by conducting light maintenance, greeting visitors and disseminating information. Ambassadors also oversee special events and open houses. Helpful skills
  • Ability to work with people of all ages, especially children

  • Dependability

  • Enthusiasm; sense of humor

  • Ability to work independently after being trained

  • Interest in environmental or natural sciences

Training

  • On-site training is provided through continuing education, lecture and field study opportunities.
