Junior Naturalist
Ages 6 - 10

Your back yard just got a whole lot bigger!

Kids are naturally curious about nature. Every child needs a place where he or she can explore. At Bluff Lake Nature Center, we believe in nurturing this natural sense of wonder.

When you register your child for one of our four Junior Naturalist sessions, your child will have the opportunity to explore Bluff Lake trails with a staff Naturalist and learn about natural history.

2008 Camps

2008 Camps are filling up quickly! However, summer plans often change and cancellations are made. If a camp that you are interested in is full, please call Susan (303-344-1649) to get on the waiting list.

Creepy Crawly Bug Camp
(FULL--June 16-20 and June 23 - 27)
Does your child want to stop and look at every insect you pass? Then they should come to bug camp where we will take a closer look at the wonderful world of insects. We will explore their tiny worlds with magnifying glasses and bug boxes. Your child will become a bug expert by learning how to safely handle insects and how to use a filed guide to identify them.

Wonderful Winged Things
July 14-18 and July 7-11
Has your child ever wanted to fly? Are they curious about how wings work? Which animals fly backward or can hover in place? In this camp we will spend our days exploring the incredible world of wings and winged things. Each day we will learn about the animals at Bluff Lake that flit, flicker, fly, and flutter!

Water Week
July 28-August 1 and August 4-8
Water, water everywhere! In this camp Junior Naturalist will learn how important water is for our survival and the survival of all other species. We will play games, do activities, hike around the lake, wetland and creek to get an in depth look into this ofter overlooked but ever important resource that is water.

NOTE: We anticipate some cancellations and will maintain waiting lists for weeks that are full. Please call Susan to get on the waiting list.
