Annual Events
Urban Spaces Wild Places
Our fall special event celebrates new or renovated
urban spaces that beautify our city. We look for spaces
that were previously forgotten and now have a renewed energy,
much like the history of Bluff Lake: a piece of land that
had little value has been restored to be a home for many
species of wildlife as well as a place to find peace and
quiet for its human neighbors.
This annual event recognizes Bluff Lake volunteers
and community members that have dedicated themselves to
improving Bluff Lake and the surrounding community. For
2007’s event, we presented the “Conservator
Award” to Tom and Caroline Hoyt, who have a long history
of philanthropy and conservation efforts in Colorado. Also,
Barry Levene received the “Dirty Hands Award”
for his dedication to eliminating the noxious weeds and
restoring native plants at Bluff Lake. Steve Norris received
the “Cottonwood Award” for his long-term contributions
to Bluff Lake, including his work with student volunteers
from Bluff Lake’s neighbor Johnson & Wales University.
Wine and Cheese
Are you a member or volunteer? Join us for
our summer event that celebrates the contribution of our
dedicated supporters. We will have a variety of wine, delicious
appetizers and lively jazz on top of the Bluff as the sun
sets. Our next Wine and Cheese will be June 11, 2008. Become
a member and receive many benefits, such as an invitation
to this memorable event!
Trick or Treat Nature Trail
Have you ever been scared by things that go
bump in the night? Well, chances are they are more scared
of you! Come tour the Trick or Treat Nature Trail on October
26 at Morrison Nature Center and learn all kinds of cool
facts about the most infamous animals in Colorado. The day
will start with a kickoff show at Bluff Lake at noon. Booths
