Earth Day 2010 at Bluff Lake
In honor of the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day, Bluff Lake Nature Center has a line-up of family-oriented and earth-friendly events. We hope that you'll be able to join us for some or all.
Bluff Lake is bringing these events to the community through generous sponsorships by Waste Management and Town Center Dentistry and Orthodontics.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 21: Stargazing for Bluff Lake Members
We kick off our Earth Day events on April 21 with a members-only event at dusk. An amateur Astronomer will bring his telescopes to Bluff Lake and share the wonders of the universe. If you're a Bluff Lake member, look for an invitation near the end of March.
EARTH DAY, APRIL 22: Earth Day Locavores
On Earth Day, we will partner once again with Stapleton-area business on our Locavore Earth Day event. A number of local businesses will donate a portion of their day's proceeds to Bluff Lake Nature Center. We encourage our friends and members to act sustainably by supporting local business and your local Nature Center. Participating Stapleton businesses:

SUNDAY, APRIL 25, 10:00-Noon Annual volunteer clean-up of Westerly Creek
Help BLNC and your Stapleton neighbors as we spend time cleaning-up Westerly Creek. This is an annual neighborhood tradition, and we collect a wide variety of trash - from the common (plastic water bottles) to the extraordinarily large (mattresses). Plus we get to muck about in the creek a little bit...
For information on where and when to meet, please send an email to Chris Story.
SATURDAY, MAY 1, 8:30-Noon Spring Tree Planting at Bluff Lake
We have a large number of trees and shrubs to plant this year, and look forward to our friends and members joining us for one of our favorite activities of the year. Come on out for the morning and get your hands dirty as we continue to restore this special place. You can register now via the Volunteer Outdoors web site.
